<reference>220 ILCS 5/8-209 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that a public utility may not require a customer to make a deposit with the utility on the basis that the customer has paid a bill late unless the payment is made more than 60 days after the bill is sent to the customer or unless the customer's wires, meters, pipes, or other service equipment have been tampered with and the customer has received the benefit of the tampering.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Further amends the Public Utilities Act. Makes changes concerning when a public utility may require a customer to make a deposit with the utility on the basis late payment of a bill.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
