<reference>625 ILCS 5/6-107.1</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that, when issuing an instruction permit to a minor, the Secretary of State shall issue a sign or signs with the words "Student Driver" printed on it. Provides that the Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing the provision. Provides that the sign or signs must be displayed, and must be visible from the front and rear, when the permit holder is driving.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code and the State Finance Act. Provides that, when issuing an instruction permit, the Secretary of State may, subject to appropriation, also make available to the applicant a sign with the words "Student Driver" printed on it. Provides that the Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing this provision. Provides that the sign may be displayed on the rear of a vehicle in a clearly visible location whenever the holder of the instruction permit is driving the vehicle. Provides that $1 of the $21 fee for an original instruction permit shall be paid into the Safe Student Driver Initiative Fund. Creates the Safe Student Driver Initiative Fund as a special fund in the State treasury. Provides that the Secretary of State shall use all moneys in the Safe Student Driver Initiative Fund to cover all costs associated with the manufacture, distribution, and administration of the Student Driver signs and any other costs associated with the Graduated Licensing Program.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 3</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the original bill, as amended by House Amendment No. 1, with additions. Provides that the sign provisions do not apply to motorcycles. Increases from $20 to $21 the fee for an original instruction permit.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
