| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Special Recreation | ||||||
| 4 | Association of Central Lake County (SRACLC) on the occasion of | ||||||
| 5 | its 50th anniversary of providing exceptional, community-based | ||||||
| 6 | therapeutic recreation services to individuals with | ||||||
| 7 | disabilities and their families; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, SRACLC began its vital mission in 1976 with a | ||||||
| 9 | summer day camp designed to bridge the gap between school | ||||||
| 10 | years, with the association first being formed under the name | ||||||
| 11 | Northeastern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) | ||||||
| 12 | before adapting its current name to avoid confusion with a | ||||||
| 13 | neighboring organization; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Over the past five decades, SRACLC has grown into | ||||||
| 15 | a respected leader and an indispensable cooperative alliance, | ||||||
| 16 | supported faithfully by its member agencies, including the | ||||||
| 17 | Grayslake Community Park District, the Village of | ||||||
| 18 | Libertyville, the Village of Hawthorn Woods, the Village of | ||||||
| 19 | Lake Zurich, the Village of Lincolnshire, the Mundelein Park | ||||||
| 20 | and Recreation District, the Round Lake Area Park District, | ||||||
| 21 | and the Vernon Hills Park District; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, SRACLC provides critical inclusion services at no | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | additional cost to families, ensuring equal opportunity for | ||||||
| 2 | all individuals to participate at their highest desired level | ||||||
| 3 | through staff training, program adaptations, and specialized | ||||||
| 4 | equipment; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, SRACLC successfully operates nearly 500 weekly | ||||||
| 6 | programs, special events, and camps annually, touching lives | ||||||
| 7 | through enduring traditions, such as its flagship bowling | ||||||
| 8 | league and the cherished fall dance; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, SRACLC has continually expanded its reach to meet | ||||||
| 10 | modern needs, including establishing the cutting-edge | ||||||
| 11 | SRACLC-Mitsubishi Electric Sensory Room: Illumi*Nation in 2019 | ||||||
| 12 | to provide tailored multi-sensory experiences and creating the | ||||||
| 13 | We Serve program to promote positive living for veterans, | ||||||
| 14 | active military, and their families through therapeutic | ||||||
| 15 | recreation; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, SRACLC empowers its participants to gain | ||||||
| 17 | independence, enhance social skills, and embrace wellness | ||||||
| 18 | through robust initiatives, including Crusaders Athletics, | ||||||
| 19 | competing in the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Section and | ||||||
| 20 | Special Olympics Illinois, the year-round active adult day | ||||||
| 21 | program, youth and teen programs, and comprehensive leisure | ||||||
| 22 | education partnerships with local school districts; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The steadfast commitment, vision, and | ||||||
| 2 | high-quality services provided by the staff, leadership, and | ||||||
| 3 | volunteers of the SRACLC have truly embodied their motto of | ||||||
| 4 | "Take Time for Fun!" and profoundly enhanced the quality of | ||||||
| 5 | life in Lake County; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 8 | we congratulate the Special Recreation Association of Central | ||||||
| 9 | Lake County (SRACLC) on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, | ||||||
| 10 | commend the association for its outstanding legacy of service | ||||||
| 11 | to individuals with special needs and disabilities, and extend | ||||||
| 12 | our sincerest best wishes for its continued success; and be it | ||||||
| 13 | further | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the executive director and the board of directors | ||||||
| 16 | of SRACLC as a symbol of our esteem and respect. | ||||||
