AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2730

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2730 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by 
5adding Section 5-55 as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/5-55 new)
7    Sec. 5-55. Reimbursement for music therapy services. The 
8Department shall establish a process for reimbursing music 
9therapy services provided by licensed music therapists. To be 
10eligible for reimbursement under this Section, music therapy 
11services must be provided by a music therapist licensed by the 
12Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The 
13existing Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) 
14reimbursement code G0176 shall be utilized for music therapy 
15billing and shall not be limited to specific diagnostic groups 
16to ensure fair and equitable compensation for music therapy

1services for all consumers, considering the expertise and 
2specialized skills of music therapists. Health care providers 
3shall be notified of the coverage of music therapy services 
4under this HCPCS code, and relevant training may be provided 
5to ensure proper billing and documentation procedures for 
6music therapy services. This Section shall be implemented on 
7January 1, 2025.
 
8    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
9becoming law.".
