| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 11-315 as follows: |
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/11-315 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 11-315. Bicycle trail signage. The authority having |
| 8 | | maintenance jurisdiction over publicly owned bicycle trails in |
| 9 | | the State shall erect permanent regulatory or warning signage |
| 10 | | alerting pedestrians or cyclists of vehicle crossings. In the |
| 11 | | event of an emergency or safety hazard, the authority having |
| 12 | | maintenance jurisdiction over publicly owned bicycle trails |
| 13 | | shall erect temporary signage alerting pedestrians or cyclists |
| 14 | | of damage to the trail, maintenance being performed on the |
| 15 | | trail, or other temporary hazards along the trail. The |
| 16 | | Department with reference to State highways under its |
| 17 | | jurisdiction, and the local authority with reference to other |
| 18 | | highways under its jurisdiction, shall erect permanent signage |
| 19 | | warning vehicular traffic in advance of bicycle trail |
| 20 | | crossings. Signage erected as part of this Section shall |
| 21 | | conform with the State manual and permanent advanced warning |
| 22 | | signage shall be located at least 150 feet in advance of the |
| 23 | | crossing.
