AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4955 

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4955 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 
52-3.64a-20 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.64a-20 new)
7    Sec. 2-3.64a-20. Restrictions on grades kindergarten 
8through 6 assessments.
9    (a) On or after the effective date of this amendatory Act 
10of the 103rd General Assembly, the State Board of Education 
11may not provide funding for any standardized assessment or 
12test any students in grades kindergarten through 6 beyond the 
13requirements of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
14    (b) Nothing in this Section may be construed to limit the 
15ability of a classroom teacher or school district to develop, 
16purchase, administer, or score an assessment for an individual

1classroom, grade level, or group of grade levels in any 
2subject area in grades kindergarten through 6.
3    (c) The State Board of Education shall explore any 
4assessment flexibility afforded to states through waivers 
5under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.".
