| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government. |
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 136 as follows: |
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/136 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 136. Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Week. December 1 |
| 8 | | through December 7 of each year is designated as Crohn's and |
| 9 | | Colitis Awareness Week as a week to invite and encourage all |
| 10 | | people in Illinois to join the effort to find a cure for |
| 11 | | Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, engage in activities |
| 12 | | aimed at raising awareness of Crohn's disease and ulcerative |
| 13 | | colitis among the general public and health care providers, |
| 14 | | promote and support biomedical research needed to find better |
| 15 | | treatments and a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative |
| 16 | | colitis, encourage media organizations to participate in |
| 17 | | Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Week by helping to educate the |
| 18 | | general public about Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, |
| 19 | | recognize all people in Illinois living with Crohn's disease |
| 20 | | and ulcerative colitis and express appreciation to the family |
| 21 | | members and caregivers who support them, and commend the |
| 22 | | dedication of health care professionals and biomedical |
| 23 | | researchers who care for patients with Crohn's disease and |
