HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of David
4Ernest "Dave" Higgins of Peoria, who passed away on November
514, 2022; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dave Higgins was born to Robert Joseph and Doris
7Elizabeth (Davis) Higgins in San Francisco, California on
8January 7, 1953; he served as a medic in the U.S. Army, where
9he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era; he married
10Connie J. Kellerstrass on August 25, 1976; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dave Higgins retired from Road Sprinkler Fitters
12Local Union 669 after 30 years of service in 2009; he took
13pride in working for his union in many capacities and
14especially enjoyed his time working as an organizer; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dave Higgins volunteered for the Heart of
16Illinois United Way and the NALC food drive; he also served as
17a blood donor and volunteer for the American Red Cross; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dave Higgins was known as a self-described free
19spirit; he loved music; he unconditionally loved his family;
20his strength will continue to inspire and comfort those that
21knew and loved him; and

1    WHEREAS, Dave Higgins was preceded in death by his
2parents; his stepfather, Melvin F. Gillard; and his faithful
3friends, Duchess, Sparky, and Jaxon; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dave Higgins is survived by his wife; his
5daughters, Kelli (Michael) Zurek and Kori (Kevin) O'Connor;
6his grandchildren, Amelia and Isla Zurek and Raina, Meleah,
7and Bryson Paul; his brother, Ricky (Debbie) Higgins; his
8sister, Bobbie Polite; his bonus mom and best buddy, Shirley
9Kellerstrass; his numerous nieces and nephews; his extended
10family members and friends; and his faithful friend, Charlie;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of David Ernest "Dave" Higgins and extend
15our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
16knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dave Higgins as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
