| 1 | | AN ACT concerning business.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
| 5 | | Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2WWW as follows:

| 6 | | (815 ILCS 505/2WWW new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2WWW. Termination or early cancellation fees for |
| 8 | | deceased persons. |
| 9 | | (a) Subject to federal law and regulation, no providers of |
| 10 | | telephone, cellular telephone, television, Internet, energy, |
| 11 | | or water services shall impose a fee for termination or early |
| 12 | | cancellation of a service contract in the event the customer |
| 13 | | has deceased before the end of the contract. |
| 14 | | (b) Every violation of this Section is an unlawful practice |
| 15 | | within the meaning of this Act.
