Amends the State Police Act. Provides that the Department of State Police shall pay directly or reimburse, up to a
maximum of $20,000 (rather than $10,000) the burial expenses of each State police officer who is
killed in the line of duty.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 12.2 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (20 ILCS 2610/12.2)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 12.2.
Burial benefit for State police officers killed |
| 8 | | in the line of
duty.
|
| 9 | | (a) The Department of State Police shall pay directly or |
| 10 | | reimburse, up to a
maximum of $20,000 $10,000, the burial |
| 11 | | expenses of each State police officer who is
killed in the line |
| 12 | | of duty after June 30, 1997.
|
| 13 | | (b) The payments provided for in this Section shall be paid |
| 14 | | out of moneys
appropriated to the Department for the personal |
| 15 | | services of State police
officers.

| 16 | | (c) The Department of State Police shall adopt rules |
| 17 | | governing the
administration of this Section.
