AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1748 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1748 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Rescue Squad Districts Act is amended  by 
5changing Section 8 as follows:
 



6    (70 ILCS 2005/8)  (from Ch. 85, par. 6858)



7    Sec. 8. 
The board of trustees of the district shall have 
8power to take all
necessary or proper steps to provide rescue 
9services
within the district;
to purchase equipment, supplies 
10and materials; to recruit rescue
squad
personnel, who shall be 
11compensated at a rate determined by the board of
trustees; and

12generally to do any and
all things necessary or incident to the 
13powers granted by this Act and to carry
out the objects of this 
14Act.

15    Trustees appointed under to Section 6, or elected following 
16a conversion under Section 6.5, shall not be prohibited,

1notwithstanding any law of the State to the contrary, from also 
2being members of the rescue squad for which they are serving as 
3trustees or from receiving compensation for such services, 
4provided that compensation provided to members who are trustees 
5is similar to compensation provided to members who are not 
6trustees.  No law shall limit the amount of pay received by 
7trustees serving as member of a rescue squad, unless said law 
8applies to all members of the rescue squad without regard to 
9their membership on its board of trustees.
