| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 4.10 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (115 ILCS 5/4.10 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 4.10. Length of work as subject of collective |
| 8 | | bargaining. |
| 9 | | (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act or |
| 10 | | other law to the contrary, with respect to a school district |
| 11 | | organized under Article 34 of the School Code only, collective |
| 12 | | bargaining between an educational employer and an exclusive |
| 13 | | representative of its employees may include decisions to |
| 14 | | determine the length of the work and school day and the length |
| 15 | | of the work and school year. |
| 16 | | (b) The subject or matters described in subsection (a) are |
| 17 | | permissive subjects of bargaining between the educational |
| 18 | | employer and an exclusive representative of its employees and, |
| 19 | | for the purpose of this Act, are within the sole discretion of |
| 20 | | the educational employer to decide to bargain, provided that |
| 21 | | the educational employer is required to bargain over the impact |
| 22 | | of a decision concerning the subject or matter on the |
| 23 | | bargaining unit upon request of the exclusive representative |
