AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 190 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 190 as follows:
 


3on page 1, line 17, by replacing "125 120" with "120"; and
 


4on page 1, line 19, after "500,000", by inserting ", with not 
5more than 5 charter schools devoted exclusively to students 
6from low-performing or overcrowded schools operating at any one 
7time in that city;"; and
 


8on page 2, by replacing lines 3 through 20 with the following:

9"charter schools, up to but no more than 5 charter schools 
10devoted exclusively to re-enrolled high school dropouts may 
11operate at any one time in any city having a population 
12exceeding 500,000.  Notwithstanding any provision to the 
13contrary in subsection (b) of Section 27A-5 of this Code, each 
14such dropout charter may operate up to 15 campuses within the 
15city.  Any of these dropout charters may have a maximum of 1,875

1enrollment seats, any one of the campuses of  the dropout 
2charter may have a maximum of 165 enrollment seats, and each 
3campus of the dropout charter must be operated by the same 
4legal entity as that for which the charter is approved and 
5certified.".
