| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate Teresa A. Hubka, D.O. of Chicago on the occasion | ||||||
| 4 | of her election as national president of the American | ||||||
| 5 | Osteopathic Association (AOA); and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The AOA represents more than 186,000 osteopathic | ||||||
| 7 | physicians and medical students; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka's election as the 128th national | ||||||
| 9 | president of the AOA marks the first time in the | ||||||
| 10 | organization's history that an Illinois doctor has been | ||||||
| 11 | elected; she is also the organization's first OB-GYN to be | ||||||
| 12 | president and only the second woman to serve in this role; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka has previously served the AOA in a | ||||||
| 14 | number of positions, including as a member on the Board of | ||||||
| 15 | Trustees since 2013; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka received her undergraduate degree in | ||||||
| 17 | biochemistry and nutrition science from the University of | ||||||
| 18 | California, Davis and her Master of Science in Biology and | ||||||
| 19 | Clinical Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in | ||||||
| 20 | Connecticut; she earned her osteopathic medical degree from | ||||||
| 21 | Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine | ||||||

| 1 | (DMU-COM) in Des Moines, Iowa; she then completed an | ||||||
| 2 | osteopathic internship at Atlantic City Medical Center in New | ||||||
| 3 | Jersey, followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecologic | ||||||
| 4 | surgery at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago, | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka is the founder and medical director of | ||||||
| 7 | Comprehensive Wellness Care, LLC, a practice specializing in | ||||||
| 8 | reproductive health; she has been in private practice in the | ||||||
| 9 | Lincoln Park area of Chicago since 1994; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka is a clinical professor and the | ||||||
| 11 | department chair of OB-GYN at Midwestern University/Chicago | ||||||
| 12 | College of Osteopathic Medicine; she is also an adjunct | ||||||
| 13 | professor at DMU-COM, and she currently serves as a faculty | ||||||
| 14 | member and instructor for the Basic and Advanced Life Support | ||||||
| 15 | in Obstetrics courses; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka has acquired a number of accolades, | ||||||
| 17 | including receiving the American College of Osteopathic | ||||||
| 18 | Obstetricians and Gynecologists Distinguished Service Award in | ||||||
| 19 | 2014 and being named Alumnus of the Year for DMU in 2014; she | ||||||
| 20 | was also named a "top doctor" in women's healthcare in Chicago | ||||||
| 21 | Magazine's annual series several times between 2010 to 2023; | ||||||
| 22 | and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hubka will be inaugurated as national | ||||||
| 2 | president of the AOA in Chicago on July 20, 2024; therefore, be | ||||||
| 3 | it | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Teresa | ||||||
| 6 | A. Hubka, D.O. on her election as national president of the | ||||||
| 7 | American Osteopathic Association (AOA); and be it further | ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to Dr. Hubka as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 10 | respect. | ||||||
