| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Philip W. Weber of Dawson, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 31, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Philip Weber was born in Marion, Virginia to |
| 6 | | Norman J. and Dixie Vandergriff Weber on May 12, 1944; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Collinsville High School in 1962 and from |
| 8 | | Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1966 with a |
| 9 | | Bachelor of Arts in Russian with honors; he earned his Juris |
| 10 | | Doctor cum laude from the St. Louis University School of Law in |
| 11 | | 1970; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Philip Weber practiced law in Madison County for |
| 13 | | several years, serving as assistant public defender and |
| 14 | | assistant states attorney; in 1977, he moved to Springfield, |
| 15 | | and after working one year in the criminal division of the |
| 16 | | Office of the Illinois Attorney General, he began a long and |
| 17 | | storied career on the Senate Republican staff, where he |
| 18 | | retired as chief legal counsel and research director in 2003; |
| 19 | | and

| 20 | | WHEREAS, Philip Weber had a passion for history, |
| 21 | | particularly Russian history and the political history of the |
| 22 | | Civil War; he loved photography, canoeing, and the beauty of |
