HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Elementary School 
4District 159 on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The administration center for District 159 is 
6located in Matteson on the site of the original two-room Sieden 
7Prairie schoolhouse, originally built in 1869; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, District 159, located in South Suburban Cook 
9County, serves students that reside in the 38th Legislative 
10District; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The mission of District 159 is to educate, 
12empower, and inspire the whole child; its vision is to 
13establish a shared culture that fosters a student-centered 
14approach to learning and personal development using the best 
15practices and educational resources; and
 
16    WHEREAS, District 159 believes in innovative educational 
17opportunities that set the foundation for preparing its 
18students to be life-long learners who are college and career 
19ready; and
 


  
20    WHEREAS, District 159 believes in creating an inclusive

1educational environment that encourages the participation of 
2every stakeholder; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Elementary School District 159 on its 150th 
6anniversary, and we wish them many more wonderful years; and be 
7it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to District 159 as a symbol of our respect and 
10esteem.
