AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2438 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2438, AS AMENDED, by 
3inserting immediately above Section 5 the following:

 
4    "Section 2. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is 
5amended  by adding Section 8b as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 330/8b new)
7    Sec. 8b. Mental health services for physicians. 
8Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the University 
9of Illinois Hospital shall provide mental health services to a 
10physician providing health care services in the University of 
11Illinois Hospital who is responsible for a medical error, 
12including a medical error resulting in the death of a patient.
 
13    Section 4. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended  by adding 
14Section 6.27 as follows:

1    (210 ILCS 85/6.27 new)
2    Sec. 6.27. Mental health services for physicians. 
3Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a hospital 
4licensed under this Act shall provide mental health services to 
5a physician providing health care services in that hospital who 
6is responsible for a medical error, including a medical error 
7resulting in the death of a patient.".
