SECTION 520.20 DEFINITIONS


 

Section 520.20 Definitions

 

The following are terms frequently appearing in this Part:

 

"Act" The Choke-Saving Methods Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 56, pars 601 et seq.) [410 ILCS 10].

 

"Activate EMS System" Contact the emergency medical resource in the community by the most effective method, such as phoning 911, the local fire department or rescue squad.

 

"Food Service Establishment" Any fixed or mobile establishment serving food to the public for consumption on the premises. The term does not include establishments operated on a temporary basis by charitable or non-profit organizations. (Section 2 of the Act)

 

"Placards" Posters that depict simple instructions in words and illustrations that are not offensive to restaurant patrons for the emergency care of choking victims.
