AN ACT concerning housing.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Community College Act is amended by adding Section 3-42.5 as follows:

(110 ILCS 805/3-42.5 new)

Sec. 3-42.5. Affordable housing for students. The board of trustees of a community college district may develop affordable housing for community college students in coordination with the Housing Authority having jurisdiction of the area where the community college is located.

Section 10. The Housing Authorities Act is amended by adding Section 33 as follows:

Sec. 33. Affordable housing for community college students. In addition to the powers conferred by other provisions of this Act, a Housing Authority may develop affordable housing for community college students in coordination with the board of trustees of any community college within the Housing Authority's jurisdiction.

Section 15. The Illinois Affordable Housing Act is amended by adding Section 51 as follows:

Sec. 51. Affordable housing for community college students. A non-exempt local government may develop affordable housing for community college students in coordination with a nonprofit affordable housing developer and the Housing Authority having jurisdiction of the area designated for the proposed affordable housing development.
