    AN ACT in relation to public employee benefits.

    Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section  5.   The  Public Safety Employee Benefits Act is
amended by adding Section 3 as follows:

    (820 ILCS 320/3 new)
    Sec. 3.  Definition.  For the purposes of this  Act,  the
term  "firefighter"  includes, without limitation, a licensed
emergency medical technician (EMT) who is a sworn member of a
public fire department.

    Section 99. Effective date.  This Act takes  effect  upon
becoming law.
