    AN ACT concerning education.
 
    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
 
    Section 5. The College Student Immunization Act is amended
by changing Section 3 as follows:
 
    (110 ILCS 20/3)  (from Ch. 144, par. 2603)
    Sec. 3. Exceptions.
    (a) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to: (1)
persons enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution
on or before the effective date of this Act; (2) persons
enrolled less than half-time during a term or semester; or (3)
persons whose instruction solely involves research, field work
or study outside of a classroom environment.
    (b) No proof of immunization shall be required if a
physician licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches
certifies that any immunization required by the Department is
medically contraindicated.
    (c) No proof of immunization shall be required if the
person or his or her parent or guardian presents a signed
statement that he or she objects to immunizations on religious
grounds.
    (d) The certificate of medical exemption or statement of
religious objection required by this Section shall be
presented to the post-secondary educational institution.
    (e) Beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year, for a
tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccine (Tdap) requirement,
if a student who enrolls in a post-secondary educational
institution cannot provide the dates on which the student
received 3 or more doses of a diphtheria, tetanus, and
pertussis containing vaccine, then the student must provide at
least one date on which the student received a dose of the
vaccine not more than 10 years prior to the beginning of the
term of current enrollment. Additional doses of either a Tdap
vaccine or a tetanus and diphtheria vaccine shall be
administered in accordance with the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention catch-up schedule, as needed, to
complete a series of at least 3 doses, including any prior
doses of any of the following:
        (1) Tdap vaccine;
        (2) tetanus and diphtheria vaccine;
        (3) diphtheria and tetanus vaccine; and
        (4) diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
becoming law.
