| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Harold Alexander "Sandy" Stewart of |
| 4 | | Murphysboro, who passed away on January 3, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harold Stewart was born to John Cutbert and |
| 6 | | Majorie (Smith) Stewart in Detroit, Michigan on August 7, |
| 7 | | 1940; he graduated from Bentley High School in Livonia, |
| 8 | | Michigan in 1958; he married Carol Smith on September 8, 1962; |
| 9 | | he received several degrees from the University of Michigan, |
| 10 | | including a Bachelor of Science in 1963, a Bachelor of Science |
| 11 | | in Forestry in 1964, and a master's degree in wood technology |
| 12 | | in 1967; he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at |
| 13 | | the University of Michigan; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Harold Stewart worked for the USDA Forest Service |
| 15 | | Laboratory as a wood research scientist in Carbondale and |
| 16 | | retired in 1987; he then worked for the Forest Products |
| 17 | | Laboratory at Mississippi State University in Starkville, |
| 18 | | Mississippi as a wood research scientist until 2003; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Harold Stewart was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents; his brothers, R. Bruce (Janie) Stewart, John C. |
| 21 | | Stewart, and Richard "Dick" (Patricia) Stewart; and his |
| 22 | | brother-in-law, Robert R. "Bobby" Smith; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Harold Stewart is survived by his wife, Carol; |
| 2 | | his son, Brian A. Stewart (Teresa A. Marine); his daughters, |
| 3 | | Carrie A. Stewart (Wesley T. Scholl) and Cassandra "Casey" M. |
| 4 | | Stewart (Dwayne E. Hardin); and his sister-in-law, Michelle |
| 5 | | "Shellie" (Wasser) Smith; therefore, be it |
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 8 | | Harold Alexander "Sandy" Stewart and extend our sincere |
| 9 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 10 | | him; and be it further |
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 12 | | presented to the family of Harold Stewart as an expression of |
| 13 | | our deepest sympathy. |
