| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Salzer of East Peoria, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on January 22, 2026; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Salzer was born to Trevelyn and Margaret | ||||||
| 6 | Edwards Salzer in Weldon on January 7, 1936; he married | ||||||
| 7 | Marilyn L. Wageman in Peoria on June 22, 1957, and she preceded | ||||||
| 8 | him in death on January 24, 2016; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Bob Salzer was a crane operator for International | ||||||
| 10 | Union of Operating Engineers Local #649, retiring in 1999 | ||||||
| 11 | after 43 years; during his career, he worked on many projects, | ||||||
| 12 | including such notable builds as Peoria's Twin Towers and the | ||||||
| 13 | Murray Baker Bridge, and he was noted for his perpetual | ||||||
| 14 | willingness to share his skills with others; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Bob Salzer's faith was the foundation of his | ||||||
| 16 | life; he served his church, supported charitable causes, led | ||||||
| 17 | Bible studies, and always found time to read God's word for | ||||||
| 18 | himself; he was a longtime member of Bay View Baptist Church in | ||||||
| 19 | Washington; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Bob Salzer was an avid Cardinals fan, loved | ||||||
| 21 | working on word puzzles, and enjoyed exercising at Eastside | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Centre; he cherished his family and loved spending time with | ||||||
| 2 | them all; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Bob Salzer was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 4 | his son, James Salzer; and his siblings, Sheila, Richard, and | ||||||
| 5 | John Salzer; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Bob Salzer is survived by his children, Mark | ||||||
| 7 | (Sheila) Salzer, Gary (Lisa) Salzer, Denise (Dave) Schwenk, | ||||||
| 8 | Eric (Heather) Salzer, and Diane (Dave) Ogg; 11 grandchildren; | ||||||
| 9 | 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Phillip (Nancy) Salzer; | ||||||
| 10 | and his sister-in-law, Barb Salzer; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 13 | Robert "Bob" Salzer and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 14 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 15 | further | ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Bob Salzer as an expression of our | ||||||
| 18 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
