| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of George Francis Jacob, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on January 11, 2026; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, George Jacob was born in Chicago to Walter "Budd" | ||||||
| 6 | and Margaret Jacob on June 10, 1964; he graduated from Dunlap | ||||||
| 7 | High School and Northern Illinois University; he married | ||||||
| 8 | Jeannine Couri in Peoria on August 16, 1997; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, George Jacob was president of the Brewers | ||||||
| 10 | Distributing Company and a member of the board of directors of | ||||||
| 11 | the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, George Jacob was a member of the Peoria City | ||||||
| 13 | Council and Neighborhood House and co-founder of the Moonlight | ||||||
| 14 | Basketball League; he was a board member of Mid America Bank | ||||||
| 15 | and a trustee for the Peoria Sanitary District; he was | ||||||
| 16 | involved with the Peoria City Chamber of Commerce, Easter | ||||||
| 17 | Seals, St. Jude, the Steamboat Classic, and Heart of Illinois | ||||||
| 18 | United Way; he also coached Peoria Area Youth Hockey; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, George Jacob was always ready for an adventure, | ||||||
| 20 | which he passed on to his children; he bicycled from Peoria to | ||||||
| 21 | the West Coast, throughout New Zealand, Australia and parts of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Europe; he especially loved hunting with his sons in South | ||||||
| 2 | Dakota and his special date nights with his daughter, | ||||||
| 3 | Katherine; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, George Jacob received numerous awards, including | ||||||
| 5 | being inducted into the African American Hall of Fame and the | ||||||
| 6 | 1995 Class of Forty Leaders Under 40; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, George Jacob was preceded in death by his father | ||||||
| 8 | and his brothers, Walter and Paul Jacob; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, George Jacob is survived by his wife, Jeannine; | ||||||
| 10 | his children, George, Walter "Jake", Katherine, Thomas, and | ||||||
| 11 | Bennett; his mother, Margaret Jacob; his sister, Meg Jacob; | ||||||
| 12 | and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, | ||||||
| 13 | nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 16 | George Francis Jacob and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 18 | further | ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of George Jacob as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 21 | respect and esteem. | ||||||
