HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture from September 15 through October 15 and serves as an opportunity to recognize the many contributions made to the history and culture of Illinois and the United States, including vibrant art, popular and traditional foods, and much more; and

WHEREAS, The Hispanic and Latino community comprises approximately 19% of the State's population and drives the State's economy, with Hispanic-owned businesses generating nearly $25 billion in revenue in 2022; and

WHEREAS, Across the United States, Hispanic-owned businesses contribute over $800 billion to the American economy every year; and

WHEREAS, During National Hispanic Heritage Month, the extraordinary contributions of Hispanic-American citizens past and present are recognized, and their vibrant spirit, unyielding resilience, and inspiring commitment to our shared American values is honored; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare September 15, 2025 through October 15, 2025 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we recognize the resounding strength and success of the Hispanic-American community, and we honor their tremendous contributions to our culture, economy, and future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we encourage all residents to participate in activities, ceremonies, and educational programs that honor the achievements and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
