| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long | ||||||
| 3 | celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture from | ||||||
| 4 | September 15 through October 15 and serves as an opportunity | ||||||
| 5 | to recognize the many contributions made to the history and | ||||||
| 6 | culture of Illinois and the United States, including vibrant | ||||||
| 7 | art, popular and traditional foods, and much more; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Hispanic and Latino community comprises | ||||||
| 9 | approximately 19% of the State's population and drives the | ||||||
| 10 | State's economy, with Hispanic-owned businesses generating | ||||||
| 11 | nearly $25 billion in revenue in 2022; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Across the United States, Hispanic-owned | ||||||
| 13 | businesses contribute over $800 billion to the American | ||||||
| 14 | economy every year; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, During National Hispanic Heritage Month, the | ||||||
| 16 | extraordinary contributions of Hispanic-American citizens past | ||||||
| 17 | and present are recognized, and their vibrant spirit, | ||||||
| 18 | unyielding resilience, and inspiring commitment to our shared | ||||||
| 19 | American values is honored; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 21 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||

| 1 | we declare September 15, 2025 through October 15, 2025 as | ||||||
| 2 | Hispanic Heritage Month in the State of Illinois; and be it | ||||||
| 3 | further | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, That we recognize the resounding strength and | ||||||
| 5 | success of the Hispanic-American community, and we honor their | ||||||
| 6 | tremendous contributions to our culture, economy, and future; | ||||||
| 7 | and be it further | ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That we encourage all residents to participate | ||||||
| 9 | in activities, ceremonies, and educational programs that honor | ||||||
| 10 | the achievements and contributions of Hispanic and Latino | ||||||
| 11 | Americans. | ||||||
