| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Robert Eugene "Bob" Leistner of | ||||||
| 4 | Springfield, who passed on November 18, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was born to Elmer William and Emma | ||||||
| 6 | Louise Leistner in Springfield on January 6, 1938; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Springfield High School in 1956 and attended | ||||||
| 8 | Vanderbilt University; he graduated from MacMurray College in | ||||||
| 9 | 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics; he | ||||||
| 10 | played basketball at both institutions and was affectionately | ||||||
| 11 | known as "Tall #54"; he married Rosemary Leach on June 24, | ||||||
| 12 | 1961; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner joined M.J. Kellner Company in June | ||||||
| 14 | 1960, retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service, including | ||||||
| 15 | the last 16 years as general manager; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner focused on community service during | ||||||
| 17 | his retirement; he served as president of Contact Ministries | ||||||
| 18 | and served on numerous other boards, including the Boys and | ||||||
| 19 | Girls Club of Springfield, First State Bank (1984-1988), | ||||||
| 20 | Springfield Mass Transit District (1989-1999) where he served | ||||||
| 21 | four years as board chairman, and Security Bank Board | ||||||
| 22 | (1994-2003) where he served three years as building project | ||||||

| 1 | manager; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner's favorite sport was golf, and he | ||||||
| 3 | was a longtime member of the Illini Country Club, where he | ||||||
| 4 | served as past president and was a Illini golf club champion; | ||||||
| 5 | he also earned the rare achievement of making four | ||||||
| 6 | holes-in-one; he was past chairman and two-time champion of | ||||||
| 7 | the Central Illinois Senior Golf Association Tournament; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was past president of the MacMurray | ||||||
| 9 | College Alumni Board and the recipient of the Distinguished | ||||||
| 10 | Alumni Award in 1985, and he was inducted into the MacMurray | ||||||
| 11 | College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011; he was the reunion | ||||||
| 12 | chairman for his Springfield High School Class of 1956 for 50 | ||||||
| 13 | years; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was a lifelong member of First | ||||||
| 15 | Church of Christ, Scientist in Springfield, where he served as | ||||||
| 16 | First Reader, board member, treasurer, and auditor; he was | ||||||
| 17 | also a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston; | ||||||
| 18 | he was an astute bridge player and enjoyed many years playing | ||||||
| 19 | with the Duplicate Bridge Club of Springfield, where he earned | ||||||
| 20 | the prestigious title of Silver Life Master; he was also a | ||||||
| 21 | former member of the Capital Investment Club and a stamp | ||||||
| 22 | collector; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was a snowbird for many years, | ||||||
| 2 | enjoying life with his wife in Naples, Florida as members of | ||||||
| 3 | Windstar on Naples Bay Country Club; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 5 | parents; his sisters, Helen Virginia and Elaine Ruth; his | ||||||
| 6 | in-laws, Edward and Louise Leach and Juliette Leach; and his | ||||||
| 7 | brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Carol Leach; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Bob Leistner is survived by his wife, Rosemary; | ||||||
| 9 | his daughter, Jill (Daniel) McClelland and grandchildren, | ||||||
| 10 | David and Michael McClelland; his son, Todd (Candice) Leistner | ||||||
| 11 | and grandchildren, Jack, Paige, and William Leistner and | ||||||
| 12 | Claire Mastio; his daughter, Kim Leistner and grandchildren, | ||||||
| 13 | Amanda and Vanessa Little; his brothers-in-law and their | ||||||
| 14 | wives, Ted and Beverly Leach and David and Janet Leach; | ||||||
| 15 | several nieces and nephews; and his dear stepsister, Sally | ||||||
| 16 | Salvador; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Robert Eugene "Bob" Leistner and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 20 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 21 | him; and be it further | ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | presented to the family of Bob Leistner as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 2 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
