| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of John E. Salzer of East Peoria, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on November 23, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Salzer was born to Trevlin and Margaret | ||||||
| 6 | (Edwards) Salzer in Peoria on August 28, 1949; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from East Peoria Community High School in 1967; he earned his | ||||||
| 8 | degree in engineering from Bradley University; he married | ||||||
| 9 | Barbara Ervin in Peoria on December 6, 1974; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, John Salzer worked with Peoria Local 649 of the | ||||||
| 11 | International Union of Operating Engineers from 1973 to 2009; | ||||||
| 12 | and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, John Salzer served Msgr. E.L. Grzybowski Council | ||||||
| 14 | 7580 of the Knights of Columbus in many capacities, including | ||||||
| 15 | as Grand Knight from 1997 to 1998; he was also a member of | ||||||
| 16 | Spalding Assembly 0206 of the Fourth Degree Knights of | ||||||
| 17 | Columbus; he was awarded the title Knight of Knights, the | ||||||
| 18 | highest honor, by the Peoria Diocese Chapter of the Knights of | ||||||
| 19 | Columbus in 2012; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, John Salzer was a lifelong member of St. Monica | ||||||
| 21 | Catholic Church in East Peoria; he was also one of the original | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | founders, organizers, and chairpersons for the drive-through | ||||||
| 2 | Folepi Narrated Nativity display in East Peoria; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, John Salzer was preceded in death by his sister, | ||||||
| 4 | Sheila; his brother, Dick; and one infant brother; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Salzer is survived by his wife of 50 years, | ||||||
| 6 | Barbara Salzer; his children, Tracie Crawford, Kristie (Scott) | ||||||
| 7 | Garver, and Joe (Kelly) Salzer; his brothers, Bob Salzer and | ||||||
| 8 | Phil (Nancy) Salzer; five grandchildren; and five | ||||||
| 9 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 12 | John E. Salzer and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 13 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 14 | further | ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to the family of John Salzer as an expression of our | ||||||
| 17 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
