| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Ralph Vernon Froehling of Canton, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on January 9, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling, the son of Arthur and Julia | ||||||
| 6 | (Wilkenning) Froehling, was born in Harvey on October 5, 1928; | ||||||
| 7 | he graduated from Cissna Park High School; he enlisted in the | ||||||
| 8 | U.S. Army, serving from 1946 to 1948; with funding from the | ||||||
| 9 | G.I. Bill, he attended the University of Illinois and was | ||||||
| 10 | accepted into the University of Illinois Law School, earning | ||||||
| 11 | his Juris Doctor in 1952; he married Jean Millington at Wesley | ||||||
| 12 | United Church in Canton on January 27, 1952; he was recalled to | ||||||
| 13 | active duty during the Korean War and served in the Advocate | ||||||
| 14 | General Department of the Army; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling began his legal practice in Oak | ||||||
| 16 | Park and then practiced law in Galesburg; he joined the | ||||||
| 17 | Chiperfield Law Firm in Canton in 1956; attorneys Ron Weber | ||||||
| 18 | and Nancy Schell became partners years later, and the firm is | ||||||
| 19 | currently known as Froehling, Weber & Schell; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was recognized as Senior | ||||||
| 21 | Counselor by the Illinois Bar Association in 2002; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was an active member of his | ||||||
| 2 | community, serving in the Kiwanis Club of Canton and the | ||||||
| 3 | Canton Rotary Club as well as on the Board of the | ||||||
| 4 | Parlin-Ingersoll Library Board of Trustees and with other | ||||||
| 5 | local organizations; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 7 | brother, Harold, and his sister, Alice; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling is survived by his wife, Jean; | ||||||
| 9 | his sons, Alan Froehling, John Froehling, and David Froehling; | ||||||
| 10 | his daughter, Lynn (Brian) Martie; eight grandchildren; 12 | ||||||
| 11 | great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, | ||||||
| 12 | great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Ralph Vernon Froehling and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 16 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Ralph Froehling as an expression of | ||||||
| 20 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
