SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to recognize the Council of State Governments (CSG) on the occasion of the organization's return to its birthplace, the City of Chicago, for the 2025 CSG National Conference; and

WHEREAS, CSG, the nation's only nonpartisan, nonprofit organization serving all three branches of state government, established an office in Chicago 87 years ago; and

WHEREAS, CSG was created to connect state leaders across the nation and facilitate the sharing of ideas and policy for the common good; and

WHEREAS, CSG's mission is advanced through four regional offices, including CSG Midwest, which hosts its office in Lombard; and

WHEREAS, CSG provides leadership development, research, and national support through its regional programs, the Henry Toll Fellowship, and policy academies; and

WHEREAS, CSG has elected two governors from the State of Illinois who have served as its national president and five legislators from the State who have served as its national chair since 1938, including its current national chair; and

WHEREAS, CSG continues to serve as a valued resource to the State, a catalyst for collaboration and innovation, and a champion of excellence in state government; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Council of State Governments (CSG) on the organization's return to the City of Chicago, its first home, for the 2025 CSG National Conference, being held from December 9 to December 13, 2025; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to CSG as an expression of our esteem and respect.
