| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Lyle Dean Curtis of Canton, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on August 20, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Lyle Curtis was born to William and Jessie | ||||||
| 6 | (Henderson) Curtis in Avon on November 4, 1936; he served in | ||||||
| 7 | the U.S. Army Reserve, rising to the rank of sergeant; he | ||||||
| 8 | married Audrey Evans on November 8, 1959; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Lyle Curtis was the owner of Stereo Village in | ||||||
| 10 | Canton for more than 30 years before retiring in 1999; during | ||||||
| 11 | his career, he always prided himself on providing excellent | ||||||
| 12 | customer service; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Lyle Curtis was a member of Wesley United | ||||||
| 14 | Methodist Church of Canton and the Canton Lions Club; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Lyle Curtis was a classic car enthusiast, | ||||||
| 16 | spending hours restoring a variety of vehicles, including a | ||||||
| 17 | 1957 Rebel Rambler and a 1964 Metropolitan; he and his wife | ||||||
| 18 | displayed their cars throughout Central Illinois, and they | ||||||
| 19 | were both members of the Gear Jammers of Canton; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Lyle Curtis was preceded in death by his brother, | ||||||

| 1 | Bill; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Lyle Curtis is survived by his wife of 65 years, | ||||||
| 3 | Audrey Curtis; his children, Evan Curtis, Todd (Debbie) | ||||||
| 4 | Curtis, and Alicia (Marsha Hausser) Curtis; one grandson; his | ||||||
| 5 | sister, Ruth Estes; and his bonus daughter, Jyl Churchill | ||||||
| 6 | Barnard; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 9 | Lyle Dean Curtis and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 11 | further | ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to the family of Lyle Curtis as an expression of our | ||||||
| 14 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
