| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Roy Lee Johlfs of Macomb, who passed |
| 4 | | away on September 22, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs was born in Chicago to Winfria E. |
| 6 | | Leonard Johlfs and Harold E. Johlfs on July 5, 1948; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Grant Community High School in Fox Lake and |
| 8 | | from Western Illinois University; he served in the U.S. Navy |
| 9 | | during the Vietnam War as an aviation electronics technician |
| 10 | | stationed at the Lemoore Naval Station in California; his |
| 11 | | squadron VA-144 served two tours of duty on the aircraft |
| 12 | | carrier U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard; he married Judy K. Foxall in |
| 13 | | Macomb at Wesley United Methodist Church in 1992; he was |
| 14 | | previously married to Connie T. McAdams; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs worked for the U.S. Department of |
| 16 | | Defense after graduating from Western Illinois University; he |
| 17 | | worked as controller and office manager at the Midwest Contro |
| 18 | | Products Corp. in Bushnell for 17 years; he later owned and |
| 19 | | operated Johlfs Insurance agency in Macomb as an Allstate |
| 20 | | Insurance agent; he became a University of Illinois Master |
| 21 | | Gardener and owned and operated his own landscaping business; |
| 22 | | he retired from the Pella Window Corp. in Macomb in 2010; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs enjoyed learning to repair things and |
| 2 | | had a small handyman business after he retired; he enjoyed |
| 3 | | helping people, especially his neighbors; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs enjoyed playing tennis and pickle ball |
| 5 | | and was helpful to those who wanted to learn those sports; he |
| 6 | | and Judy enjoyed spending much of their time together and |
| 7 | | enjoyed many of the same things, such as coffee, walking, |
| 8 | | puzzles, reading, movies, yard work, and living in Macomb; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs was a member of Wesley United |
| 10 | | Methodist Church in Macomb and was president of the Macomb |
| 11 | | Little League for several years; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 13 | | his wife, Judy; his son, Russel Roy; and his sister, Shirley A. |
| 14 | | Martin Evenson; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Roy Johlfs is survived by the immediate family of |
| 16 | | his wife, Judy; his son, Craig S. (MJ) Johlfs; his grandson, |
| 17 | | Julian; his brothers, Roger D. (Kathy) and Ronald G. (Debbie) |
| 18 | | Johlfs; and his sister, Joyce M. (Mike) Johlfs Grabarec; |
| 19 | | therefore, be it |
| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
