SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth W. "Ken" Aupperle of Morton, who passed away on October 14, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was born to William and Sophia (Kaisner) Aupperle in Morton on July 27, 1933; he served in the United States Army; he attended Bradley University; he married Carol Ann Friedinger in Pekin on August 7, 1955, and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2009; he later married Carol Lindstrom in Morton on September 22, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle worked for Aupperle Construction, a family business that celebrated its 120-year anniversary this year; he also owned and worked at Cook Rental in Morton; after he retired from Aupperle Construction, he served as an executive director of the Tazewell County Builders Association; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle served his community as precinct committeeman of Morton for 50-plus years, as an assessor of the Village of Morton for eight years, and as a member of the original Morton Park Board and the Morton Chamber of Commerce; he also gave his time to the Morton Pumpkin Festival Food Tent; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was a member of Morton Methodist Church; he was also active in the Optimist Club, the Jaycees, the American Legion, the VFW, the Peoria Honor Flight, the Elks Club in Pekin, the Morton Camera Club, the Morton Wood Carving Club, Habitat For Humanity, Easter Seals-UPC, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Morton and Clearwater Rotary Club; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was named the 2001 Morton Pumpkin Festival Parade Marshal and Construction Man of the Year by TRICON in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at pool parties, during family vacations to the Ozarks, and at the beach, especially in Clearwater, Florida; he was an avid traveler who visited many destinations, including Cuba, Israel, China, Vietnam, France, Switzerland, Liberia, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Poland, Austria, Vietnam, and the Panama Canal; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was preceded in death by his brother, William Jr.; his son, Bruce Aupperle; his daughter-in-law, Debra Aupperle; and his best friend, Jay Ackerman; and

WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle is survived by his daughters, Lori (Earl) Waughop, Lisa (Greg) Stone, and Lynn (Garlan) Guthrie; his siblings, Steve (Nancy) Aupperle and Delores (John) Woodburn; his wife, Carol Lindstrom-Aupperle; his stepsons, Mark Reecy and Matt (Barbara) Reecy; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth W. "Ken" Aupperle and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ken Aupperle as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
