| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate International Brotherhood | ||||||
| 4 | of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 on the occasion of its | ||||||
| 5 | 125th anniversary; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Over the course of its 125-year history, IBEW | ||||||
| 7 | Local 134 has been guided by providing skilled union | ||||||
| 8 | craftsmanship while remaining dedicated to serving its | ||||||
| 9 | community, making a transformative impact on Chicago and Cook | ||||||
| 10 | County; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Since 1900, IBEW Local 134 electricians have been | ||||||
| 12 | the skilled hands behind Chicago's most iconic achievements | ||||||
| 13 | such as wiring the city's first telephone system and subway | ||||||
| 14 | and constructing several of the city's legendary landmarks, | ||||||
| 15 | including the Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, | ||||||
| 16 | Wrigley Field, and O'Hare International Airport; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, IBEW Local 134 has set a gold standard for | ||||||
| 18 | training, safety, and expertise through thousands of hours of | ||||||
| 19 | classroom instruction combined with hands-on experience to | ||||||
| 20 | ensure that every project meets the highest standards of | ||||||
| 21 | professionalism, quality, and safety; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, IBEW Local 134 has played a integral role in a | ||||||
| 2 | number of endeavors, including when the union helped create | ||||||
| 3 | Powering Chicago, a labor-management partnership that has | ||||||
| 4 | worked to strengthen industry, build better careers, connect | ||||||
| 5 | communities, and improve construction through innovative | ||||||
| 6 | apprenticeship programs; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Today, IBEW Local 134 represents more than 12,000 | ||||||
| 8 | construction, communication, and residential electricians who | ||||||
| 9 | work in a wide variety of fields; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 11 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we congratulate International Brotherhood of Electrical | ||||||
| 13 | Workers (IBEW) Local 134 and its members, past and present, | ||||||
| 14 | for 125 years of craftsmanship and service that have helped | ||||||
| 15 | power Chicago's growth into one of the world's great cities, | ||||||
| 16 | and we wish them many more years of excellence ahead; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | delivered to the leadership of IBEW Local 134 as a symbol of | ||||||
| 20 | our esteem and respect. | ||||||
