HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who passed away on September 10, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk was born and raised in Illinois; he was a proud graduate of Wheeling High School, where his natural curiosity and determination began shaping his lifelong mission to question, to learn, and to inspire others; and

WHEREAS, As an Illinois native, Charlie Kirk carried with him the values of hard work, perseverance, and civic engagement, which guided his efforts to encourage young Americans across the nation to become active and thoughtful participants in public life; and

WHEREAS, Forgoing a traditional university path, Charlie Kirk demonstrated that knowledge and wisdom can be achieved through independent study, asking difficult questions, and dedicating oneself to the Constitution, Scripture, and English common law; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk was blessed with the love and support of his wife, Erika, and together they built a strong family centered around their two beloved children; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk founded and grew Turning Point USA into a national organization that reached millions of young Americans, encouraging them to think critically, defend free expression, and engage in dialogue on the most pressing political and cultural issues of their time; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk's willingness to visit campuses across the nation inspired countless students to explore their beliefs, test their convictions, and better understand the principles of Western civilization and constitutional government; and

WHEREAS, At the center of Charlie Kirk's work was his deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, a faith that guided his calling to lead his generation and the next toward truth, responsibility, and freedom; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk believed that political discourse is strongest when it is open, civil, and rooted in First Amendment principles, and he devoted his life to ensuring that the younger generation understood what was at stake in preserving liberty and constitutional order; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk was known not only for his public voice but also for his devotion as a husband, father, and man of faith who lived his convictions with clarity and courage; he will be remembered for his lifelong mission to educate, inspire, and engage young Americans in the work of preserving freedom; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
