SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mario A. Pasin, who passed away on August 18, 2025 at the age of 95; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin was born in Oak Park on February 6, 1930 to Antonio and Anna Pasin, Italian immigrants who instilled the values of hard work and integrity in their family; he attended St. Giles School and Fenwick High School before enrolling at the University of Notre Dame, where he received both his undergraduate and law degrees; he married Mary Kay in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin's father, Antonio, was a skilled wood craftsman who founded the family business, Radio Flyer, makers of the iconic little red wagon of the same name, which was inspired by two great inventions of the early 20th century, the radio and the airplane; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin dedicated himself to leading Radio Flyer from the 1960s through the 1990s, carrying forward the company's mission of creativity, quality, and care; under his leadership, the company thrived, and in turn, he earned deep respect for treating all employees with fairness, dignity, and equality in the workplace; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin, in addition to his professional life, restored and preserved his family's dairy farm in Wisconsin, planting thousands of trees, rehabilitating the lake, and creating a lasting natural sanctuary that reflected his love of the outdoors; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin was known as a man of integrity, humility, compassion, and generosity, qualities that inspired his family and community alike to continue his legacy of kindness and stewardship; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; and

WHEREAS, Mario Pasin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Kay; his children, Mark (Mary Margaret), Therese (David) Brandenstein, Antonio, Paul (Jane), and Robert (Muriel Quinn); his grandchildren, Paul (Jenny), Mary (Kassi), and Miles Brandenstein, Helen, Henry, Oscar, and Linus Quinn Pasin, and Augustine (Moe) and Joy Pasin; and his great-grandchild, June; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mario A. Pasin and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mario Pasin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
