HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Italian American community has played a vital role in shaping the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the City of Rockford; and

WHEREAS, Festa Italiana, held annually in Rockford and now in its 46th year, is a beloved cultural celebration that honors the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of Italian Americans in the region; and

WHEREAS, Festa Italiana serves as a unifying event for the Rockford community, drawing residents and visitors alike to enjoy traditional Italian food, music, art, and entertainment; and

WHEREAS, Festa Italiana fosters cross-cultural understanding and pride in heritage while supporting local businesses, artisans, and performers; and

WHEREAS, Festa Italiana is organized with dedication by committed volunteers and organizations, including the Greater Rockford Italian American Association (GRIAA), whose efforts keep traditions alive and enrich community spirit; and

WHEREAS, The proceeds from Festa Italiana are used to support scholarships, charitable causes, and educational programs that benefit both the Italian American community and the broader Rockford area; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Festa Italiana as an important cultural event in the City of Rockford, and we express our gratitude to all who make this festival possible each year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we celebrate the continued legacy of Italian American heritage in Rockford, and we encourage all residents to take part in the festivities, honoring the traditions and values that unite the community.
