HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Lincoln Elementary School District (ESD) 156 in Calumet City on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156 began as the Sobieski School, which was constructed in the early 1920s to support the growing population of families in the area; and

WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156's name was later changed to Lincoln Elementary School by a student committee chaired by Sylvia Pierkarczyk-Mica to reflect the values of leadership, integrity, and progress; and

WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156 has evolved into a strong pillar of educational excellence and community pride since officially opening its doors in 1925; and

WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156 will host a centennial celebration on August 16, 2025; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lincoln Elementary School District (ESD) 156 on achieving its 100th anniversary, and we wish Lincoln ESD 156 continued success in its ongoing legacy of academic excellence and community service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Superintendent of Lincoln ESD 156, Dr. Anita Rice, as an expression of our esteem and respect.
