HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of May Young Chin, who passed away on February 1, 2025; and

WHEREAS, May Chin was born in Chicago in 1951; and

WHEREAS, May Chin was a pillar of the Chicago Chinatown community; she served as treasurer of the Ping Tom Park Advisory Council and played a key role in organizing community events, including the Back-to-School celebration and Trunk-or-Treat; and

WHEREAS, May Chin was actively involved in the Chinese American Civic Council, working to support immigrant communities and promote civic engagement, and she prioritized supporting local organizations, including the Chinese American Museum of Chicago (CAMOC), where she contributed her story to the museum's oral history project; and

WHEREAS, May Chin will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, generosity, and her commitment to community service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of May Young Chin and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of May Chin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
