HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Morrison High School boys track and field team, the Mustangs, on winning the 2024-2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs defied expectations and made history by winning Morrison High School's first team title in track and field and by breaking the IHSA state record in the 4x200-meter relay; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs' record-breaking 4x200-meter relay team included members Ryan Alvarado, Brady Anderson, Levi Miller, and Zach Miller, and these exemplary athletes also achieved first place in the 4x100-meter relay; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs' 4x200-meter relay team met further success in individual events, with Ryan Alvarado winning fifth place in the long jump, Brady Anderson, who exhibited perseverance while overcoming an early season injury that threatened to derail his season, being named state champion in the 100-meter dash, and Levi Miller winning the 200-meter race; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs were further represented by Colton Bielema, Lane Decker, Isaiah McDearmon, Josh McDearmon, and Jaxon Yaklich, who all qualified and proudly participated in the IHSA Class 1A State Finals; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs' 2024-2025 roster also included Corbin Allen, Xavier Baldwin, Austin Boonstra, Ethan Bush, Chance Edwards, Randy Gerlach, Adam Helms, Brevin Houzenga, Leland Kramer, Bryar Kuehl, Syler Lahman, and Noah Robbins; together, these athletes formed an integral foundation for the team's successful season; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs were led by Head Coach Kevin Kilker in his inaugural year at Morrison High School and Assistant Coaches Nate Anderson and Julia Deter; and

WHEREAS, The Mustangs' success was the product of concentration, dedication, and unwavering faith in themselves and each other; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Morrison High School boys track and field team, the Mustangs, on winning the 2024-2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A State Championship, and we wish its members future success in their athletic and academic pursuits; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the members and coaches of the Morrison High School boys track and field team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
