| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Morrison High School | ||||||
| 4 | boys track and field team, the Mustangs, on winning the | ||||||
| 5 | 2024-2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A | ||||||
| 6 | State Championship; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs defied expectations and made history | ||||||
| 8 | by winning Morrison High School's first team title in track | ||||||
| 9 | and field and by breaking the IHSA state record in the | ||||||
| 10 | 4x200-meter relay; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs' record-breaking 4x200-meter relay | ||||||
| 12 | team included members Ryan Alvarado, Brady Anderson, Levi | ||||||
| 13 | Miller, and Zach Miller, and these exemplary athletes also | ||||||
| 14 | achieved first place in the 4x100-meter relay; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs' 4x200-meter relay team met further | ||||||
| 16 | success in individual events, with Ryan Alvarado winning fifth | ||||||
| 17 | place in the long jump, Brady Anderson, who exhibited | ||||||
| 18 | perseverance while overcoming an early season injury that | ||||||
| 19 | threatened to derail his season, being named state champion in | ||||||
| 20 | the 100-meter dash, and Levi Miller winning the 200-meter | ||||||
| 21 | race; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs were further represented by Colton | ||||||
| 2 | Bielema, Lane Decker, Isaiah McDearmon, Josh McDearmon, and | ||||||
| 3 | Jaxon Yaklich, who all qualified and proudly participated in | ||||||
| 4 | the IHSA Class 1A State Finals; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs' 2024-2025 roster also included | ||||||
| 6 | Corbin Allen, Xavier Baldwin, Austin Boonstra, Ethan Bush, | ||||||
| 7 | Chance Edwards, Randy Gerlach, Adam Helms, Brevin Houzenga, | ||||||
| 8 | Leland Kramer, Bryar Kuehl, Syler Lahman, and Noah Robbins; | ||||||
| 9 | together, these athletes formed an integral foundation for the | ||||||
| 10 | team's successful season; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs were led by Head Coach Kevin Kilker | ||||||
| 12 | in his inaugural year at Morrison High School and Assistant | ||||||
| 13 | Coaches Nate Anderson and Julia Deter; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Mustangs' success was the product of | ||||||
| 15 | concentration, dedication, and unwavering faith in themselves | ||||||
| 16 | and each other; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we congratulate the Morrison High School boys track and field | ||||||
| 20 | team, the Mustangs, on winning the 2024-2025 Illinois High | ||||||
| 21 | School Association (IHSA) Class 1A State Championship, and we | ||||||
| 22 | wish its members future success in their athletic and academic | ||||||

| 1 | pursuits; and be it further | ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to the members and coaches of the Morrison High | ||||||
| 4 | School boys track and field team as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 5 | esteem. | ||||||
