| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Robert Paul "Bob" Chumley of | ||||||
| 4 | Jacksonville, who passed away on July 2, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley, the son of Paul and Clara Ridder | ||||||
| 6 | Chumley, was born in Jacksonville on June 30, 1946; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Routt High School in 1964; he enlisted in the | ||||||
| 8 | U.S. Army, and he was stationed in Germany prior to serving | ||||||
| 9 | during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969; he married JoAnn | ||||||
| 10 | Johnson at Church of the Visitation in Alexander on October | ||||||
| 11 | 23, 1971; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley, a skilled carpenter, worked in | ||||||
| 13 | construction with Ted Donovan before founding Chumley Brothers | ||||||
| 14 | Builders with his brother, Ross; he later worked with the City | ||||||
| 15 | of Jacksonville's Parks and Lakes Department for several | ||||||
| 16 | years; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley was a lifelong member of Church of | ||||||
| 18 | Our Saviour; he was an active member of the Knights of | ||||||
| 19 | Columbus, and he was also a member the Jacksonville Elks Club, | ||||||
| 20 | the Jacksonville Moose Lodge, and the Art Association of | ||||||
| 21 | Jacksonville; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley enjoyed starting his day with his | ||||||
| 2 | Hardee's breakfast group; he loved golfing, fishing, and | ||||||
| 3 | hunting; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the | ||||||
| 4 | Routt Rockets; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley loved his family more than anything, | ||||||
| 6 | and he cherished every moment he shared with them; he spent | ||||||
| 7 | countless hours attending his children's and grandchildren's | ||||||
| 8 | sporting events and dance recitals; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley was preceded in death by his son, | ||||||
| 10 | Matthew Chumley; his brother-in-law, Robert A. (Linda) | ||||||
| 11 | Johnson; and his sisters-in-law, Virginia "Ginny" Roberts and | ||||||
| 12 | Marilyn (Pat) Davin; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Bob Chumley is survived by his wife of 53 years, | ||||||
| 14 | JoAnn; his children, Brian (Stacey) Chumley, Jennifer (Mike) | ||||||
| 15 | Kafer, and Mike (Dakota) Chumley; eight grandchildren; his | ||||||
| 16 | siblings, Paulette Carochi, Rose (Terry) Fernandes, Ross | ||||||
| 17 | (Ruth) Chumley, Terry (Barb) Chumley, and Tracey (Lonnie) | ||||||
| 18 | Wilcox; his in-laws, Annette (the late Mark) Pignon, Yvonne | ||||||
| 19 | (Cliff) Nolte, and Richard (Sharon) Johnson; and several | ||||||
| 20 | nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, | ||||||
| 21 | be it | ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||

| 1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 2 | Robert Paul "Bob" Chumley and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 3 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 4 | it further | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to the family of Bob Chumley as an expression of our | ||||||
| 7 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
