SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 805/805-306 new
    Amends the Department of Natural Resources (Conservation) Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law or rule of the Department of Natural Resources to the contrary, a State authorized veterans' organization seeking to hold a memorial service at a State Memorial Site shall not pay a fee and shall not be required to obtain liability insurance if the permit to hold such service is approved by the Department of Natural Resources. Provides that the Department of Natural Resources shall be provided a list of State authorized veterans' organizations by the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Defines "State authorized veterans' organization".

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources 
5(Conservation) Law of the Civil Administrative Code of 
6Illinois is amended by adding Section 805-306 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 805/805-306 new)
8    Sec. 805-306. Fee waiver; State authorized veterans' 
9organization holding memorial services at State Memorial Site. 
10Notwithstanding any other provision of law or rule of the 
11Department to the contrary, a State authorized veterans' 
12organization seeking to hold a memorial service at a State 
13Memorial Site shall not pay a fee and shall not be required to 
14obtain liability insurance if the permit to hold such service 
15is approved by the Department of Natural Resources. The 
16Department of Natural Resources shall be provided a list of 
17State authorized veterans' organizations by the Department of 
18Veterans' Affairs. In this Section, "State authorized 
19veterans' organization" means an organization chartered under 
20federal or State law and approved by the Department of 
21Veterans' Affairs comprised of members of which substantially 
22all are individuals who are veterans or spouses, widows, or 
23widowers of veterans, the primary purpose of which is to

1promote the welfare of its members and to provide assistance 
2to the general public in such a way as to confer a public 
3benefit.
