| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Iverson of Danville, |
| 4 | | who passed away on May 22, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was born in Chicago to John and Mary |
| 6 | | Mercedes (Caslin) Iverson on August 4, 1950 and raised in |
| 7 | | Glenview; he graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, |
| 8 | | Glenbrook South High School, and Southern Illinois University; |
| 9 | | he married Judith Mehalic in Streator on August 12, 1972; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson worked as a newspaper reporter, |
| 11 | | spokesperson for his school district, administrative assistant |
| 12 | | to the superintendent for District 118, communication |
| 13 | | coordinator for the Danville medical center, and |
| 14 | | communications coordinator for the Illinois Sustainable |
| 15 | | Technology Center at the University of Illinois; he also spent |
| 16 | | many years as a news reporter for WITY radio; he retired from |
| 17 | | the University of Illinois; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was elected in two different Danville |
| 19 | | wards at different times, in 1987 and again in 2019; he served |
| 20 | | as vice mayor for the Danville City Council for a time, and |
| 21 | | most recently, served as alderman for Ward 7; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was an active member of First |
| 2 | | Presbyterian Church in Danville for 30 years, where he served |
| 3 | | as a church elder and on numerous committees and groups and was |
| 4 | | instrumental in it being the only church in the State to win |
| 5 | | the Illinois Sustainability Award; he was active in past years |
| 6 | | with the Kiwanis, the Alzheimer's Alliance, the Palmer Arena |
| 7 | | Board, and other local organizations; he was an avid fan of the |
| 8 | | Chicago Cubs and White Sox, loved photography, and was a cigar |
| 9 | | aficionado; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson looked at his jobs as a way to help |
| 11 | | people, whether it was by providing news, helping the public |
| 12 | | through community relations, or detailing ways people can cut |
| 13 | | pollution; he always took his job seriously but not himself; |
| 14 | | he was quick to have a joke or funny comment about a situation |
| 15 | | and enjoyed staying busy in the community and playing euchre |
| 16 | | with his friends; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 18 | | and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Bob Iverson is survived by his wife, Judith; his |
| 20 | | daughters, Amy Iverson and Anne (Jason) Binette; his grandson, |
| 21 | | Keaton Binette; and his siblings, John (Terri) Iverson, Nancy |
| 22 | | (Greg) Gordon, and Laurie Iverson; therefore, be it |

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 3 | | Robert A. "Bob" Iverson and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 4 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 5 | | further |
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the family of Bob Iverson as an expression of our |
| 8 | | deepest sympathy. |
