HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Carl Thacker on the 
4occasion of his retirement after 50 years of service to the 
5Bloomington-Normal music industry; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Carl Thacker began his career working for The 
7Music Shoppe in 1975, before becoming a technician for 
8Illinois State University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carl Thacker opened his own family owned and 
10operated music store, Carl's Pro Band, along with his son, 
11Travis, in 1994; the foundation of the shop was based on 
12repair, and the showroom and retail space followed; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carl Thacker has chosen to retire the Carl's Pro 
14Band name and transfer leftover assets to the Music Shoppe; 
15many customers, including local school districts, were served 
16by both businesses, so the transition has been smooth; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Carl Thacker looks forward to spending more time 
18with his grandchildren and summers where neither he nor his 
19son will have to work 60 hours a week, a common practice for 
20repair shops; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Carl Thacker on his retirement after 50 years 
4of service to the Bloomington-Normal music industry, and we 
5wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it 
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Carl Thacker as a symbol of our respect and 
9esteem.
