| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Carl Thacker on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement after 50 years of service to the | ||||||
| 5 | Bloomington-Normal music industry; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Carl Thacker began his career working for The | ||||||
| 7 | Music Shoppe in 1975, before becoming a technician for | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois State University; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Carl Thacker opened his own family owned and | ||||||
| 10 | operated music store, Carl's Pro Band, along with his son, | ||||||
| 11 | Travis, in 1994; the foundation of the shop was based on | ||||||
| 12 | repair, and the showroom and retail space followed; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Carl Thacker has chosen to retire the Carl's Pro | ||||||
| 14 | Band name and transfer leftover assets to the Music Shoppe; | ||||||
| 15 | many customers, including local school districts, were served | ||||||
| 16 | by both businesses, so the transition has been smooth; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Carl Thacker looks forward to spending more time | ||||||
| 18 | with his grandchildren and summers where neither he nor his | ||||||
| 19 | son will have to work 60 hours a week, a common practice for | ||||||
| 20 | repair shops; therefore, be it | ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 3 | we congratulate Carl Thacker on his retirement after 50 years | ||||||
| 4 | of service to the Bloomington-Normal music industry, and we | ||||||
| 5 | wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it | ||||||
| 6 | further | ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to Carl Thacker as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 9 | esteem. | ||||||
