| 1 | AN ACT concerning education. | ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly: | ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section | ||||||
| 5 | 27-23.14 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (105 ILCS 5/27-23.14) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 27-23.14. Workplace experience preparation course. A | ||||||
| 8 | school district that maintains any of grades 9 through 12 and | ||||||
| 9 | offers workplace experience courses, including | ||||||
| 10 | school-facilitated employment or internships, shall provide | ||||||
| 11 | the following to participating students: may include in its | ||||||
| 12 | high school curriculum a unit of | ||||||
| 13 | (1) instruction on workplace preparation that covers | ||||||
| 14 | legal protections in the workplace, including | ||||||
| 15 | discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, | ||||||
| 16 | sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, | ||||||
| 17 | disability, or status as a protected veteran; and | ||||||
| 18 | (2) instruction on legal protections protection | ||||||
| 19 | against sexual harassment and racial and other forms of | ||||||
| 20 | discrimination, including, but not limited to, disparities | ||||||
| 21 | in pay, lack of institutional support or resources, and | ||||||
| 22 | exclusion from executive or leadership positions and other | ||||||
| 23 | protections for employees. | ||||||

| 1 | A school board may determine the minimum amount of | ||||||
| 2 | instruction time that qualifies as a unit of instruction under | ||||||
| 3 | this Section. | ||||||
