SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

735 ILCS 5/2-625 new

Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides immunity for any licensed engineer or licensed architect or other person working under the direct supervision of the licensed person who provides services without compensation in emergency response activities.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning civil law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by adding Section 2-625 as follows:

(735 ILCS 5/2-625 new)

Sec. 2-625. Immunity for engineers and architects for emergency response activities. Any licensed engineer or licensed architect or other person working under the direct supervision of the licensed person who participates in emergency response activities under the direction of, or in connection with, a community emergency response team, county emergency management agency, the State emergency management agency, or the Federal Emergency Management Agency is not liable for any civil damages because of any acts, services, or omissions provided without compensation if the individual acts as a reasonably prudent person would have acted under the same or similar circumstances. The immunity provided in this Section applies to any acts, services, or omissions provided within 30 days after declaration of the emergency.
