SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joan Rosaline Babcock of Jacksonville, who passed away on March 29, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Joan Babcock, the daughter of James and Mary Donaghy Donnelly, was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 20, 1940; she married Gary R. Babcock in New York on February 14, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Joan Babcock served as a certified nursing assistant for many years, and she worked at the Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville; and

WHEREAS, Joan Babcock was a member of Our Savior Catholic Church in Jacksonville; and

WHEREAS, Joan Babcock enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching old Hollywood movies, and competing in trivia nights hosted by radio station WLDS; and

WHEREAS, Joan Babcock was preceded in death by her sister, Mary McKinna, and her brothers, Eugene V. Donnelly and James J. Donnelly Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Joan Babcock is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gary; her children, Gary (Karen) Babcock and Mary Lanning; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joan Rosaline Babcock and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joan Babcock as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
