SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Sheila Trikha Khanna M.D., who passed away on December 12, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Khanna was born in Thika Kenya to Shyamlal Trikha and Bharati Bhardwaj on May 31, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Khanna was a skilled and generous rehabilitation physician, who touched the lives of many; she chose her medical specialty out of the desire to treat and advocate for patients like her own late mother who battled against serious neurodegenerative diseases; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Khanna created a home that served as a safe haven, full of warmth, laughter, and love; she had an extraordinary way of leaving an indelible mark in many lives, and she engaged passionately in all of her convictions, which included civic engagement; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Khanna was the heart and soul of her family; she had a vibrant, extroverted nature and had the ability to make everyone feel special; she was known for her boundless love, her grace, her strength, her kindness, and her wisdom; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Khanna was preceded in death by her husband; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Khanna is survived by her daughter, Priyanka; her sisters; and many other family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Sheila Trikha Khanna M.D. and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Khanna as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
