| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Dr. Akintunde Bowden, formerly of | ||||||
| 4 | Chicago, who passed away on April 19, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden was born to Nathaniel and Vena Bowden | ||||||
| 6 | in Chicago on July 26, 1983; he was raised in the Englewood | ||||||
| 7 | neighborhood of Chicago, which shaped his resilience, | ||||||
| 8 | character, and dedication towards serving the community; he | ||||||
| 9 | graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) | ||||||
| 10 | College of Dentistry; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden dedicated his entire professional | ||||||
| 12 | career to public service, serving faithfully as the dental | ||||||
| 13 | director of Milwaukee Health Services; from the moment he | ||||||
| 14 | graduated until his passing, he committed himself fully to the | ||||||
| 15 | care of his community, working tirelessly to uplift those | ||||||
| 16 | around him while touching countless lives with his skill, | ||||||
| 17 | kindness, and unwavering commitment; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden was an incredibly generous and loving | ||||||
| 19 | individual, and his actions consistently reflected his deep | ||||||
| 20 | compassion for others; he made it a priority to give back to | ||||||
| 21 | those in need, whether through donating, volunteering his | ||||||
| 22 | time, or simply offering a helping hand; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden's greatest joy was his family; he | ||||||
| 2 | served as a source of pride and comfort to his parents, as a | ||||||
| 3 | protector, an encourager, and a confidant to his siblings, and | ||||||
| 4 | as a devoted and loving partner to his wife; to all who knew | ||||||
| 5 | him, he was beloved for his humility, unwavering faith, and | ||||||
| 6 | gentle spirit; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden's life was a true testament of love, | ||||||
| 8 | faith, courage, and service, and his legacy will continue to | ||||||
| 9 | inspire all who carry his memory forward; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden was preceded in death by his sister, | ||||||
| 11 | Kimberly Bowden; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bowden is survived by his spouse, Teresa | ||||||
| 13 | Bell; his parents; his siblings, Joseph Bowden, Sakeenah | ||||||
| 14 | Bowden, Dr. Ogbonna Bowden, Camara (Dantea) Bowden, Nia | ||||||
| 15 | Bowden, Kenyam (Komlan) Bowden, and Dr. Adeniji (Danielle) | ||||||
| 16 | Bowden; his nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family, | ||||||
| 17 | friends, and colleagues; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 20 | Dr. Akintunde Bowden and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
