| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Donald Louis "Don" Rogers of Pleasant | ||||||
| 4 | Plains, who passed away on April 4, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Don Rogers, the son of Alfred W. and Dorothy C. | ||||||
| 6 | (Feldworth) Rogers, was born in Granite City on May 22, 1937; | ||||||
| 7 | he attended Little Flower Grade School; he graduated from | ||||||
| 8 | Cathedral Boys High School in 1955; he was drafted into the | ||||||
| 9 | U.S. Army, serving with the 51st Infantry Marksmanship Team, | ||||||
| 10 | where he was a decorated "swing man" and won several | ||||||
| 11 | marksmanship championships; he married Mary Ann Peidl in | ||||||
| 12 | Springfield on May 15, 1965; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Don Rogers worked as a heavy equipment operator | ||||||
| 14 | with Operating Engineers Local 965, retiring after 40 years of | ||||||
| 15 | service; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Don Rogers was an avid outdoorsman who loved | ||||||
| 17 | hunting, fishing, and training bird dogs with his brother, | ||||||
| 18 | Bill; he enjoyed savoring a cold drink at the end of a hard | ||||||
| 19 | day's work; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Don Rogers always made time to coach his | ||||||
| 21 | daughters' soccer and softball teams and to lend a helping | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | hand on projects for family and friends; he spent his | ||||||
| 2 | retirement years attending his grandchildren's sports events | ||||||
| 3 | and making his family his number one priority; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Don Rogers was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 5 | his brothers, Michael D. Rogers and Daniel C. Rogers; his | ||||||
| 6 | siblings-in-law, Bernice Rogers and William C. Schuchardt Sr.; | ||||||
| 7 | his nephews, William C. Schuchardt Jr. and Mason Rogers; and | ||||||
| 8 | his niece, Melissa E. Rogers; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Don Rogers is survived by his wife of 59 years, | ||||||
| 10 | Mary Ann; his daughters, Brenda K. Rogers and Laura A. Rogers; | ||||||
| 11 | four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; his siblings, William | ||||||
| 12 | D. Rogers, Dennis S. (Carol) Rogers, Diane G. Rogers, Douglas | ||||||
| 13 | L. (Chris) Rogers, David B. (Jennifer) Rogers, Debra S. (Bill) | ||||||
| 14 | Greenan, and Duane A. Rogers; and over 50 nieces and nephews; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Donald Louis "Don" Rogers and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 19 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 20 | it further | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to the family of Don Rogers as an expression of our | ||||||
