HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Olive-Harvey College
4women's basketball team, the Lady Panthers, on their
5successful 2024-25 season; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Lady Panthers finished the season with a
7record of 33 wins and 2 losses; no other school in the history
8of City Colleges of Chicago, men or women, has ever won over 30
9games in a season; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Lady Panthers won the City Colleges
11Conference Championship, the NJCAA Region 4 Division I
12Championship, and the NJCAA District 13 Division I
13Championship and earned a trip to the NJCAA Division I
14National Tournament as one of the best 24 junior college teams
15in the country; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Lady Panthers' success was a team effort but
17would not have been possible without three sophomores,
18including Region 4 Player of the Year and All American
19Candidate Nakia Bardney, All Region 4 and All American
20Candidate Khaniah Gardner, and All Region 4 Cashay Dixon; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The Lady Panthers are led by NJCAA Region 4 and

1NJCAA District 13 Coach of the Year Coach Jeff Dillard Jr. and
2his coaching staff; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Lady Panthers find their support from
4parents, friends, President Kimberly Hollingsworth, Dean
5Michelle Adams, District Director Cyril Nichols, Chancellor
6Juan Salgado, Director Robert Fletcher, Assistant Director
7Jason Straight, and the entire Olive-Harvey College Community;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate the Olive-Harvey College women's basketball
12team, the Lady Panthers, on their successful 2024-25 season,
13and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to the Lady Panthers' players and coaches as a
17symbol of our respect and esteem.
